The Traffic and Parking operations of the Public Works – Maintenance Services Division is responsible for marking and striping traffic lanes, traffic safety lines and stencils, and curb markings in over 350 miles of roadways, as well as installing and/or repairing street and traffic safety signs in compliance with Cal-Trans standards and regulations.  The Traffic and Parking section maintains over 742 city-owned parking space meters, ensuring that collection and repairs are maintained on a daily basis. 

As support services for citywide departments and events, the operation frequently assists with traffic and crowd control delineation.
