Project Description

The scope of work for this project consists of the following:

  • Selective removal and disposal of asphalt and Portland cement concrete (P.C.C.) pavements
  • Installation of Asphalt Rubber Hot Mix pavement (ARHM) over base course (Full depth reconstruction)
  • Surface grinding and placement of Asphalt Rubber Hot Mix pavement (ARHM) over asphalt leveling course (Overlay)
  • Header cutting the existing pavement, removing and hauling away of grindings and Placement of Asphalt Rubber Hot Mix pavement (ARHM) over Asphalt Rubber Aggregate Membrane (ARAM system III)
  • Application of crack sealing material and emulsion aggregate slurry (Slurry Seal Type II)
  • Installation of A.C. skin patch
  • Construction of P.C.C. curbs, gutters, and/or integral curb and gutters
  • Selective removal and repair of broken and damaged sidewalks, curbs, curbs and gutters, cross gutters, driveway approaches, local depressions and alley aprons
  • Installation of new curb ramps meeting current American with Disabilities Act guidelines
  • Sanitary sewer point repairs and lining
  • Planting of new trees and pruning of tree roots
  • Installation of Bicycle Friendly Grates on Storm Drain Catch Basins
  • Adjustment of existing utilities covers and frames to new finished grade
  • Removal and replacement of traffic striping, pavement markings and Sharrows

This project is funded with Gas Tax and Sewer funds.

  • State Date: January 2026
  • Estimated Completion: September 2026 barring unforeseen circumstances. 

Impacted Streets

During the construction period, detours, intermittent lane closures, and traffic delays are expected on the following streets:

• Santa Barbara Ave, Santa Rosa Ave, Don Carlos Ave, and El Rito Ave (all between Hermosita Dr and Cañada Blvd): Travel lanes may be closed intermittently between 7/13/2026 thru 7/16/2026 (excludes weekends)
• San Gabriel Ave (Hermosita Dr to Santa Rosa Ave), Santa Maria Ave (Hermosita Dr to Country Club Dr), Glorietta Ave and Del Valle Ave (Hermosita Dr to Cañada Blvd): Travel lanes may be closed intermittently between 7/14/2026 thru 7/17/2026 (excludes weekends)
• Weston Pl from Del Valle Ave to El Rito Ave: Travel lanes may be closed intermittently between 7/14/2026 thru 7/17/2026 (excludes weekends)
• Hermosita Dr from Santa Maria Ave to Opechee Way (with gaps): Travel lanes may be closed intermittently between 7/20/2026 thru 7/24/2026 (excludes weekends)
• Country Club Dr from Hermosita Dr to Santa Maria Ave: Travel lanes may be closed intermittently between 7/20/2026 thru 7/24/2026 (excludes weekends)
• Hermosita Dr from Country Club Dr to Santa Maria Ave (Type II slurry seal): Travel lanes may be closed intermittently on 7/27/2026 and 7/28/2026 (excludes weekends)
• Citywide project limits: Intermittent lane closures for manhole adjustments may occur 7/27/2026 thru 7/28/2026; for signing, striping, and traffic loop installation 7/29/2026 thru 8/5/2026; and for survey benchmarks and ties 8/6/2026 thru 8/8/2026 (excludes weekends)

Description of Work
• Contractor will perform grinding of existing pavement.
• Contractor will perform placement of ARAM interlayer and ARHM overlay (or Type II slurry seal, as noted).
• Contractor will perform manhole adjustments.
• Contractor will perform roadway striping, signage, and traffic loop installation.
• Contractor will perform survey benchmark and tie restoration.
