Regular street sweeping is an important city service that has multiple benefits. Removing debris from streets and gutters prevents items from entering storm drains system, which would otherwise flow to the ocean. It enhances the appearance of Glendale’s streets and neighborhoods, and decreases chance of street flooding.

When the refuse collection day for your area immediately follows the scheduled street sweeping day, do not place any container out for collection prior to 2:00 p.m. on the previous day to avoid conflicts with street sweeping vehicles.

Please help us to keep your streets clean by:

  • Avoiding piling, sweeping or blowing leaves or other debris or litter in the street, alley or gutter;
  • Keeping the street in front of your home dry on street sweeping days, as the sweepers are more effective when the street is dry;
  • Keeping palm fronds or long branches out of the street, alley or gutter;
  • Never pouring oil, antifreeze, or any other hazardous material in the street, alley or gutter, or on the ground.

Remember that property owners are responsible for keeping sidewalks, parkways, gutters, and alleys in front of or adjacent to the side or rear of their property free of litter, weeds, and other vegetation. Click here to review the relevant Glendale Municipal Code.
