The Bicycle Transportation Plan (BTP) proposed a variety of measures, including the improvement of the existing bicycle facilities, construction of new bike routes linking major activity centers, the installation of secured bicycle parking equipment, and the expansion of bicycle education/advocacy programs to improve the riding environment for bicyclists.
On August 28, 2012 the Glendale BTP was approved by City Council. The BTP emphasizes cycling as a mode of transportation and is consistent with state and federal laws and guidelines. Here are a couple of milestones for the plan:
- February 29, 2012: The draft of BTP was presented to the Transportation and Parking Commission (“TPC”) for review.
- March 27, 2012: The draft of BTP was presented to the City Council Study Session.
- April 18, 2012: The Planning Commission reviewed and recommended approval of the plan for Council adoption.
