Hate Crimes

Hate crimes are criminal acts committed against a person or property that are motivated, in whole or in part, by bias or hostility toward a protected characteristic such as race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation. These crimes not only harm the individuals targeted, but also send fear throughout entire communities. The Glendale Police Department is committed to investigating hate crimes thoroughly, protecting those targeted, and working to ensure that Glendale remains a safe and inclusive city for everyone. If you believe you have been the victim of a hate crime, please reach out for support and resources.

Hate Incidents

Hate incidents are acts of prejudice or hostility that may be harmful or offensive, but do not rise to the level of a crime. Even though these actions may not meet the legal threshold for prosecution, they can still deeply affect individuals and communities. The Glendale Police Department encourages the reporting of hate incidents so patterns can be identified, concerns addressed, and support offered. Everyone deserves to feel respected, valued, and safe in our community.
