The Glendale Police Department’s Motorcycle Safety Training Program “Ride to Live” is for motorcycle riders who want to improve their riding skills to stay safe on the road.
The free, one-day class is taught by motor officers from the Glendale Police Department and includes eight hours of “on the motorcycle” training focused on safe riding practices and techniques.
Participants will learn:
- Basic riding techniques and posture to control the motorcycle
- Proper manipulation of clutch and throttle in order to work the “friction zone”
- Emergency braking
- Proper use of head and eyes when turning a motorcycle
- Precision maneuvering
- Counter steering
- Obstacle avoidance
In 2026, the program has been scheduled for multiple classes to be held from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the following dates:
- February 22, 2026 (CLASS FULL)
- March 29, 2026
- April 19, 2026
- May 31, 2026
- June 14, 2026
Each class has a capacity of 20 participants and will take place at Lot 31, 1401 N Verdugo Rd, Glendale, CA 91208.
Surron type electric dirt bikes are not allowed at this training.
To register, a participant must have all the following:
- A valid California driver’s license with an M1 endorsement.
- Roadworthy motorcycle with valid insurance.
- Proper gear, including a DOT or SNELL approved helmet, boot that cover ankles, jean-type pants, long sleeve shirt, riding gloves, eye protect (if not wearing a full-face helmet).
The program is funded by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety (OTS).
