Project Scope
The La Crescenta Avenue Rehabilitation Project focuses on enhancing safety, mobility, and infrastructure through extensive corridor improvements. Key upgrades include new traffic control devices, pavement resurfacing, bicycle facilities, stormwater infiltration systems, sewer capacity enhancements, and traffic signal modifications. Many improvements stem from community input gathered during public meetings.
Core elements of the project include:
- Resurfacing 1.7 miles of street pavement, repairing 4,900 linear feet of curbs and gutters, and upgrading 44,500 square feet of sidewalks, driveways, and alley aprons.
- Constructing and modifying 59 ADA-compliant curb ramps and planting 21 new street trees.
- Upgrading sewer systems, realigning six intersections, and modifying traffic signals at key locations.
- Adding fiber optic infrastructure, a new traffic signal, pedestrian hybrid beacon, and mid-block signalized bicycle crossing on La Crescenta Avenue.
- Installing drywell, bio-retention facilities, and reflective pavement for stormwater management and sustainability.
- Repurposing travel lanes for a center two-way left-turn lane to improve traffic flow and safety.
- Installing 17,000 linear feet of protected and standard bike lanes, bicycle-friendly catch basin grates, and four creative crosswalks.
- This project emphasizes accessibility, safety, and sustainable mobility for the community.
