Windstorm Emergency Operations (January 7–9)
  • Responded to 709 total incidents and 3,400+ emergency calls.
  • Addressed 146 downed power lines and 274 fallen trees.
This event underscores citywide execution capacity during large-scale emergencies.
Public Safety Staffing & Deployment
  • Added 22 new sworn police positions (total 270), expanding patrol, traffic, School Resource Officers, and Special Enforcement Detail.
  • Implemented official use of a 6th Patrol District in Downtown to improve coverage and response times.
Workforce Development & Talent Pipelines
  • Launched the inaugural Women’s Fire Academy in partnership with Pasadena Fire Department (70+ participants).
  • Expanded the BioTech workforce pipeline through the Verdugo Jobs Center:
    • 85% job placement rate among LA students
    • Starting wages of $19–$22/hour, increasing to ~$30/hour within months

  • Glendale Fire strike team deployments to the Palisades and Eaton fires.
  • Added five new Basic Life Support (BLS) ambulances strategically assigned citywide.
Arts, Culture, and Library Engagement
  • 600,000+ Library and Bookmobile visitors.
  • Record Summer Reading Challenge participation:
    • +83% children
    • +110% teens
    • +367% adults
  • ReflectSpace exhibits drew 12,000+ visitors and earned recognition at the 2025 LA Art Show.
Economic Development Programming
  • Small Business Summit (500+ registrants).
  • Business programs and events (nearly 3,000 participants across 21 events).

Storm Recovery and Infrastructure Response
  • 569 service requests addressed.
  • 2,280 tons of debris removed.
  • 116 traffic signals repaired.
  • Handled nearly double the City’s normal monthly green-waste volume in days.
Clean Energy Transition
  • Transitioned Intermountain Power Project to 100% coal-free, hydrogen-ready power.
  • Installed 184 kW rooftop solar at the Perkins Building.
  • Supported 600+ customers installing 5+ MW of customer-owned solar.
  • Helped 1,500+ customers save 10 million kWh of electricity and 2 million gallons of water annually.
  • Installed ~100 new EV charging ports.
Capital Delivery and Funding Success
  • Secured $24.7M for North Verdugo Road Improvements and $10.35M in HSIP safety funding.
  • Completed View Crest Road Slope & Repair Project early and within its $2.5M budget.
  • Citywide cart replacement: 90,000+ new compliant waste carts.
  • Added five electric Beeline buses and multiple heavy-duty EVs to the fleet.
Sustainability Education and Engagement
  • Recycling Center and Scholl Canyon Landfill tours.
  • Adoption of the Climate Action & Adaptation Plan (CAAP).
  • Adoption of the AC2HP (AC to Heat Pump) ordinance.

Permitting and Development Capacity
  • 6,844 permits issued (+11%).
  • 37,830 inspections completed (+7%).
  • 8,838 plan checks finalized (+14%).
Housing and Neighborhood Initiatives
  • Completion of 515 Pioneer Drive Building C.
  • Housing Division’s 50th anniversary and integration of the City’s homeless services team.
  • Improved code enforcement efficiency, closing more cases while reducing inspection burden and achieving the highest inquiry response volume in four years.
Parks, Open Space, and Neighborhood Livability
  • Fremont Park Grand Re-Opening (2,500+ attendees).
  • New playground at Pacific Park; reopened renovated splash pads.
  • Acquisition of former Joann Fabrics site for future park use.
  • Launch of OSCR survey and community meetings.
  • Planting of 1,250 new trees in South Glendale.
