Background

The Water Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) System provides Glendale Water and Power (GWP) Water Operations staff with the ability to both centrally and remotely monitor and control the City’s water production, storage and distribution system.  Due to the mountainous terrain in the canyons and the lack of radio nodes at remote sites, the water SCADA system can at times experience intermittent communication failure.

The new communication system will utilize direct radio communication between water facilities and fiber optic communication, where applicable.

Scope of Work

The work includes installation of new radio repeater panels and associated wireless radios. CAT6 cables will be used to connect the new wireless radios to the onsite SCADA panel at the various water facilities.

Project Schedule

Construction started in July 2024 and will last approximately 12 months.
