Background

Glendale Water and Power (GWP) continues to improve the City’s water infrastructure in order to deliver reliable and high-quality water to its customers.  As part of its capital improvement efforts, GWP has implemented a capital improvement program to systematically rehabilitate welded steel water storage tanks based on field inspection and evaluation of the condition of the tank coating system and structural and safety features.   Cooks Canyon Potable Water Tank and Emerald Isle 1850 Potable Water Tank has been selected for rehabilitation in Fiscal Year 2024-2025

Scope of Work

The work generally includes application of protective coatings to interior surfaces and paint to exterior surfaces, including surface preparation, abatement of hazardous and nonhazardous materials, disinfection of interior surfaces, replacement of safety ladders, installation of spiral stairways, and modification of miscellaneous structural items to bring the tank into compliance with current safety and health codes. 

Project Schedule

Design will begin in early September 2024 and expected to go into construction in March 2025.
