Phase 1: Projects and Status
Welcome to Glendale Water & Power’s Community Solar webpage!
Glendale Water & Power is expanding its clean energy portfolio by installing solar photovoltaic systems on city-owned properties. This initiative helps make renewable energy more affordable and accessible for all customers. By leveraging city-owned assets for solar installations, we can reduce the costs of solar energy generation, benefiting our entire community. These projects support local generation by utilizing the city’s land and infrastructure, reducing the reliance on customer generated solar and external energy sources.
Phase 1 of this program was approved by the Glendale City Council in November 2023. The Council approved GWP’s recommendation to award two separate contracts for the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of the solar photovoltaic projects at the city owned facilities in the table below. Motive Energy was awarded the contract for the design and environmental review of the Brand Landfill – Ground Mount Solar Project. Solar Optimum was awarded the contract for the design, engineering, procurement, and construction of the remaining five locations.
