City of Glendale, CA
Home MenuLocal Hazard Mitigation Plan
The City of Glendale’s Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (LHMP) helps reduce disaster risk by identifying hazards, assessing vulnerabilities, and establishing long-term strategies to protect people, property, infrastructure, and essential services.
Hazard mitigation planning supports a safer, more resilient Glendale by addressing risks such as wildfire, earthquake, flooding, extreme heat, hazardous materials incidents, utility disruptions, and other emergency events. The LHMP is intended to guide future mitigation actions, strengthen preparedness, and support coordinated planning across City departments and community partners.
Local Hazard Mitigation Plan Update
FEMA requires local hazard mitigation plans to be updated every five years to remain current and to support continued eligibility for certain mitigation funding opportunities. Glendale’s ongoing resilience planning is also supported by related emergency preparedness efforts, City emergency plans, and the adopted 2025 Safety Element.
Community Input Opportunities
Community input is an essential part of the hazard mitigation planning process. Public participation helps the City identify priorities, understand local concerns, and develop practical strategies that reflect Glendale’s needs.
