What to Do

Step 1: Learn the Basics of Emergency Preparedness

Prepare in advance so you know exactly what to do when an emergency happens.

  • Create an evacuation plan – Identify where you’ll go and how you’ll get there.
  • Evacuate safely with pets and animals – Have carriers, leashes, and food ready.
  • Assemble a go-kit – Include essentials like medications, important documents, and supplies.

Visit Glendale's Preparedness Page for more resources.

Step 2: Find Your Evacuation Zone & Routes

Knowing your evacuation zone is critical. Glendale Fire Department provides zone-based evacuation maps to help residents prepare.

  • Check the Glendale Evacuation Zone Maps: View Maps
  • Know Two Ways Out: Always plan for at least two different escape routes in case one is blocked.

Step 3: Receive Emergency Alerts

Ensure you are always informed about evacuations and emergency situations.

  • Sign up for Glendale's emergency alerts.
  • Enable Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) on your phone.
  • Have a battery-powered radio in case of power outages.

Update your contact information in your emergency alert system if you move or change phone numbers.
