The new design will also feature integrated shade structures to improve comfort and usability.
Budget:
The project is funded with $300,000 in Measure A Grant funds through Los Angeles County's Regional Park and Open Space District (RPOSD).
About Measure A
Measure A is a local funding program administered by RPOSD to support improvements in local parks, open spaces, and recreation facilities across Los Angeles County. The program was created following a comprehensive Countywide Parks and Recreation Needs Assessment (PNA), which identified and prioritized areas with the greatest need for park investments. Measure A funds are intended to support projects that enhance community health, promote safe and inclusive spaces, protect natural resources, and expand access to parks.

Background:
CSP staff collaborated with two vendors to develop four different playground design options for the site. The public was invited to complete an online survey—available in English, Armenian, and Spanish—from June 2 through June 30, 2025, to share their design preference. The majority of community members selected the “Café and Ice Cream Store” concept by Kompan, Inc. as their top choice. This preferred design was presented by staff to the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Commission during its regular meeting on Monday, August 18, 2025. At the meeting, the Commission passed a motion recommending City Council approval of the community’s preferred design. You can view the report and video of the meeting HERE.
