The Brockmont Park historic district consists of 58 single-family homes in northwest Glendale that were built on a portion of the former 140-acre estate of John C. Brockman. He was a noted businessman and philanthropist who built his grand hillside home, which he called Brockmont, in 1910. By 1914 he built the four-story clock tower that is now a neighborhood landmark and listed on the Glendale Register. Upon Brockman’s death in 1925, his large estate was subdivided by the Home Realty Company into a tract called Brockmont Park. A private park added to the neighborhood's desirability. In the 1950s, the park and portions of the gardens below the Brockman House were developed, bringing a number of Ranch style homes into the excellent collection of Period Revival style homes built in the 1920s and 1930s. Today, the area's tree lined streets and high-quality architecture make it one of Glendale's most distinctive neighborhoods.
