Fire Chief Statement Following Formal Charges
The Glendale Fire Department is sharing the following statement from Fire Chief Jeff Brooks regarding the arraignment of an off-duty firefighter in connection with the death of Mayra Jimenez:
“Our hearts are with Mayra Jimenez’s family and loved ones, and with all those impacted by this tragic loss. Mayra was part of our extended Glendale Fire Department family, and this has deeply affected our entire organization.
The formal charges filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office are extremely serious and deeply troubling. Any form of violence is appalling and unacceptable. This conduct does not reflect the values of the Glendale Fire Department or the character and professionalism of the women and men who serve this community with integrity and compassion every day.
The Los Angeles Police Department is the lead investigating agency, and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office is proceeding with the prosecution. The City of Glendale and the Glendale Fire Department will continue to cooperate fully throughout the investigative and legal process.
Because this matter involves an active investigation and ongoing criminal proceedings, the City and the Glendale Fire Department cannot comment beyond information released through official channels. Media inquiries related to the investigation should be directed to the Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.”

Declaración del Jefe de Bomberos tras la presentación de cargos formales
El Departamento de Bomberos de Glendale comparte la siguiente declaración del Jefe de Bomberos Jeff Brooks con respecto a la comparecencia de lectura de cargos (arraignment) de un bombero fuera de servicio en relación con la muerte de Mayra Jimenez:
“Nuestros corazones están con la familia y los seres queridos de Mayra Jimenez, y con todas las personas afectadas por esta trágica pérdida. Mayra era parte de nuestra familia extendida del Departamento de Bomberos de Glendale, y esto ha afectado profundamente a toda nuestra organización.
Los cargos formales presentados por la Oficina del Fiscal de Distrito del Condado de Los Ángeles son extremadamente serios y profundamente preocupantes. Cualquier forma de violencia es atroz e inaceptable. Esta conducta no refleja los valores del Departamento de Bomberos de Glendale ni el carácter y la profesionalidad de las mujeres y los hombres que sirven a esta comunidad con integridad y compasión todos los días.
El Departamento de Policía de Los Ángeles es la agencia principal a cargo de la investigación, y la Oficina del Fiscal de Distrito del Condado de Los Ángeles está procediendo con el enjuiciamiento.
