Glendale Water & Power Celebrates Public Power & Water Professionals Week

Glendale, CA – Glendale Water & Power (GWP) proudly celebrates Public Power Week, October 6–12, 2025, alongside more than 2,000 community-powered, not-for-profit electric utilities that collectively provide reliable, safe, and affordable electricity to 54 million Americans across 49 states and five territories. At its core, public power is about people power, and GWP is committed to providing Glendale with reliable electricity.

During the same week, GWP also proudly recognizes California Water Professionals Appreciation Week, October 4–12, 2025, This special recognition, designated by the California Legislature, honors the dedication of water and wastewater professionals who play a crucial role in delivering safe, reliable water, wastewater, and recycled water services to communities throughout the state. 

“Public Power Week and Water Professionals Appreciation Week give us the opportunity to highlight and thank the dedicated men and women who power and sustain Glendale each and every day,” said Scott Mellon, General Manager of Glendale Water & Power. “Their expertise and commitment ensure that our community continues to receive clean, reliable and sustainable water and power services.”

Mayor Ara Najarian added, “Glendale is fortunate to have such talented and hardworking professionals serving our community. The work of GWP’s power and water teams touches every resident and business in our city, and their commitment to excellence is a point of pride for all of us.”

Together, GWP’s power and water professionals exemplify the utility’s mission of service, dedication, and reliability. Whether working in the field, at treatment plants, or behind the scenes, their efforts ensure Glendale residents and businesses have continuous access to these essential services.
