Decades of Dedication Spark Jeff Brooks' Rise to Glendale Fire Chief
Glendale, CA – The City of Glendale is proud to announce the appointment of Jeff Brooks as the new Fire Chief for the Glendale Fire Department, effective immediately. With over two decades of distinguished service, Brooks brings extensive experience, community commitment, and visionary leadership to the role.
Brooks has served as the Acting Fire Chief since March 1, 2025, leading all divisions of the department, and ensuring operational continuity and organizational accountability. His promotion to Fire Chief follows a rigorous internal process and reflects the city’s confidence in his leadership and strategic direction.
Throughout his 20-year career with the Glendale Fire Department, Brooks has held several key positions, including Deputy Fire Chief, Battalion Chief, Training Captain, and Fire Captain Paramedic. He has also served on a Federal Type 1 Incident Management Team and has been instrumental in enhancing department preparedness, safety, and emergency response strategies.
“Over the past 20 years, I’ve had the privilege of watching Jeff Brooks grow within the Glendale Fire Department—from his early days as a firefighter paramedic to his steady rise through the ranks,” said Mayor Ara Najarian. “His dedication, humility, and tireless commitment to this community have earned him the deep respect of not only his colleagues but also Glendale’s residents and business owners. Jeff is a true product of Glendale’s values, and I am proud to see him take on this well-deserved role as our Fire Chief.”
“Jeff has earned the respect and admiration of his peers, the executive team, and our community,” said City Manager Roubik Golanian. “He brings a forward-thinking leadership style that aligns perfectly with our city’s vision for excellence in public service. We’re lucky to have him.”
Chief Brooks holds a Bachelor of Science in Fire Administration and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Fire Executive Leadership and Emergency Services. He is also a dedicated community member, actively serving on the Glendale Continuum of Care Board, the Character and Ethics Project, the Board of the Glendale Federal Credit Union, and Glendale Kiwanis.
“I am deeply honored and humbled to serve as Fire Chief for the City of Glendale,” said Chief Brooks. “It’s a privilege to lead the dedicated men and women of this department as we continue to protect and serve our community with integrity and compassion.”
