Glendale Celebrates National Public Works Week with a Week of Appreciation and Community Spirit
GLENDALE, CA— The City of Glendale proudly joined communities across the country in celebrating National Public Works Week (NPWW) from May 18–24, 2025, honoring the essential role Public Works employees play in building and maintaining the city’s infrastructure and quality of life.
This year’s theme, “People, Purpose, Presence”, recognized the hardworking individuals who show up every day with dedication and a deep commitment to serving Glendale’s residents.
To show appreciation, the Public Works Department hosted a series of events throughout the week, culminating in the annual Public Works Luncheon on May 21st. Employees enjoyed food from local favorites, interactive games, a photo booth, and hands-on vehicle displays, including a Police SWAT Vehicle, Fire Engine, and GWP Digger. Staff achievements were spotlighted during the Employee of the Year nominations, and raffle prizes, donated by community partners, added to the celebration.
“The passion and commitment of our Public Works team is at the heart of Glendale’s success,” said Public Works Director, Daniel Hernandez. “National Public Works Week is a time to celebrate their everyday efforts that often go unseen but are always essential.”
The City extends heartfelt thanks to the NPWW Planning Committee, vendors, and sponsors listed below who helped make the week a memorable success.
