Celebrate Arbor Day: Ceremonial Tree Planting

GLENDALE, CA— Join the City of Glendale in celebrating its 74th annual Arbor Day on May 7, 2025, at 10:30 AM. The Public Works and Community Services and Parks Departments will host a ceremonial tree planting just outside City Hall, next to the rose garden in Parcher Plaza. Two additional California sycamore trees will be planted in the Civic Center’s sycamore grove.

Event Schedule

  • 10:30 AM – Event Welcome (Public Works)
  • 10:35 AM – Mayor/Council Remarks
  • 10:40 AM Ceremonial Tree Planting

This celebration will also mark the 41st year of the City of Glendale being re-certified as a Tree City USA, and the 16th year of receiving the coveted Tree City USA Growth Award. Being a Tree City requires the city to have a section responsible for tree management, a tree ordinance, an adequate per capita based funding for the forestry program, and host a celebration of Arbor Day.

The Growth Award is given for more progressive community forestry programs that demonstrate active improvement and advancement. The criteria that Glendale was successful in achieving the Growth Award this past year was for our extensive tree planting efforts, enhancing our tree protection ordinances, and in conducting Public Works-led internal City training programs and “tree walks” to help stakeholders in our community forest better understand protected trees.[HM1]
