Post Date:04/29/2020 3:42 PM

Glendale, CA:
On April 23, 2020, at approximately 8:00pm, officers contacted a male smoking a cigarette within 20-feet of a business in the area of California Ave and Orange St, a violation of the Glendale Municipal Code.

Officers located a marijuana joint next to the male and he admitted to smoking the marijuana in public just prior to the officers contacting him. The male told officers his ID was in his vehicle, which was parked near him.

Upon opening the vehicle door to retrieve the suspect’s identification, officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana and located a 6-month-old baby inside.

During a subsequent search, officers discovered a loaded firearm, narcotics, marijuana, and a large amount of cash inside the male’s car.

The male, identified as 23-year-old Robert Ortiz of Los Angeles, was arrested for child endangerment, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and narcotics for sale.
