New Emergency Orders and Updates Related to COVID-19: March 18, 2020

Glendale, CA— The City of Glendale continues to closely monitor coronavirus (COVID-19) developments. Based on the latest public health information and the urgent need to stop the spread of the virus, the City is closing public facilities and making the following service modifications:

  1. All service counters located inside the City Hall, Municipal Services, and Perkins buildings, as well as other off-site facilities, are closed to the public. Service counters are no longer accepting appointments for service. All City Departments can be reached by phone and all online resources are available.
  2. All late fees for City-provided services accrued following the emergency proclamation declared on Monday, March 16th, will be waived at least through March 31st, 2020.

The City of Glendale has also issued two new Public Orders following the Glendale City Council’s declaration of a local emergency on Monday, March 16, 2020. These orders include:

  1. City Measures to Address COVID-19 (Residential and Commercial Tenancies)
    1. Landlords may not evict tenants during this local emergency period if the tenant is able to show an inability to pay rent due to the circumstances related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  2. New City Measure to Address COVID-19 (Adult Day Care Facilities)
    1. All adult day care facilities within the City of Glendale shall be closed in order to prevent the congregation of large groups of adults, particularly seniors, in one location in an effort to mitigate the spread of COVID-19.

This is effective through March 31, 2020, unless extended or modified by further Executive Order or action of the City Council.

As of March 18, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Glendale is four. For accurate information about COVID-19, including citywide updates, visit or follow us on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram at @MyGlendale.
