LA County Public Works: Sediment Hauling & Flood Control Maintenance Activities

MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES
To safeguard lives and property during this period of increased mudflow risk for local burn areas, Los Angeles County Public Works is conducting critical clean-out operations at debris basins in the North San Fernando Valley. Material removed from these facilities is being trucked to the County’s regional Dunsmuir Sediment Placement Site in the Glendale area.

HOW LONG WILL THE WORK LAST?
The current high-priority operation is expected to begin mid-August and will last approximately 3 months. Additional maintenance and clean-out activities may be necessary depending on the severity off future storms up through April 2020, the end of the current storm season.

DATE/TIME
County crews will work from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and on Saturdays as needed, during the storm season.

TRUCK HAUL ROUTES
WHERE DO THE TRUCKS GO?

Truck routes are illustrated on the attached map. Safety is Public Works’ highest priority. Truck hauling operations are monitored by County staff to ensure that drivers navigate their routes safely and observe all traffic laws. If you see a truck that is not observing traffic laws, please contact Public Works’ 24-hour Dispatch Center at (800) 675-HELP (4357).

RESIDENT SUPPORT
To expedite their operations, County crews require unobstructed access to County facilities. Please avoid parking vehicles or storing materials on streets near the Dunsmuir Sediment Placement Site during hauling operations. Parking restrictions (if necessary) will be posted 48 hours in advance.

CONTACT INFORMATION
