GLENDALE, California – Glendale Water & Power (GWP) hosted the Japan Water Research Center (JWRC) on October 5th, at Glendale Water & Power’s administrative offices. JWRC is a non-profit research organization dedicated to the study and solution of important needs and challenges surrounding drinking water supply in Japan. Its membership includes 230 utilities, 140 private companies and 30 universities & research institutes in Japan. Twelve representatives from various JWRC sections, met with GWP to learn about the implementation of Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) in Glendale.

“We are honored to host JWRC in discussions about AMI implementation, and hope they can use the knowledge learned to implement a successful AMI system for their water customers” said Steve Zurn, General Manager of Glendale Water & Power. JWRC’s main focus was learning how AMI can help with leak detection, data collection, customer programs, and overall customer satisfaction.


Glendale Water & Power is the City of Glendale’s utility which provides water to 33,744 customers in Glendale, California. The city-owned utility also generates, transmits, and distributes electricity to 88,110 residential, commercial, and industrial customers.
