Burbank and Glendale Fire Departments to Host the Class of 2016 Firefighter Recruit Academy Graduation

Glendale, CA –The Burbank and Glendale Fire Departments will be hosting the Class of 2016 Firefighter Recruit academy graduation to celebrate the completion of 15 weeks of physical and extensive training. The goal of the training academy was to build the foundation of knowledge and life-saving skills that each of the firefighters will use during their career as a firefighter.

What:

The Glendale Fire Department, in partnership with the Burbank Fire Department, will host a graduation ceremony to mark the end of a 15-week joint firefighter recruit training academy. The ceremony includes the firefighter badge pinning and the administration of the Public Service Oath.  This year’s Firefighter recruits include a diverse group of 13 individuals: Dusty Arroyo, Narek Babayan, Daniel Bachman, Shant Barin, Casey Canzone, Jessie Castro, Sarah Craig , Kodie Dean , Kyle Mallett , Zohrab Markosyan, Nathan Moroshan , Leslie Scott, and Zareh Sohbatian.

Why:

The graduation signifies the end of the first phase of training for the Firefighter recruits. It gives each department an opportunity to recognize the dedication and hard work of each recruit, and allows the recruits to demonstrate the skills they acquired throughout the academy. Not only does the graduation signify the end of the academy, it also initiates the next year of on-the-job training that the recruits will have to complete to become Burbank and Glendale firefighters.
