Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Rodeo

Glendale, CA – The City of Glendale’s Community Development Department will conduct a bicycle and pedestrian safety awareness event for students from Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School. Students will ‘walk, ride and roll’ through a miniature city that simulates over 20 bicycle and pedestrian traffic hazards. This training provides the skills for students in grade Kindergarten to 5th grade to be safer pedestrians and bicyclists.

What:         Pedestrian & Bicycle Safety Rodeo
When:        Tuesday, May 3, 2016 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Where:      Verdugo Woodlands Elementary School
                  1751 N. Verdugo Road
                  Glendale, CA 91208

The City of Glendale has launched a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program as part of its commitment to improving pedestrian and bicycle safety in the community. Our goals for the SRTS Program are to reduce injuries and fatalities involving school children and to encourage increased walking and bicycling among students. Funded through a $500,000 grant awarded to the City by the Federal CYCLE 3 SRTS Program, educational events and activities will eventually take place at all public middle and elementary schools in the school district, and at one private elementary school.

The SRTS Program is one component of a comprehensive, centralized and coordinated approach to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety within Glendale, under the leadership of the City’s Community Development Department.  For more information, visit
