The Glendale City Council recently approved three new financial assistance programs benefiting small businesses and low income renters experiencing difficulties as a result of COVID-19.

The City of Glendale recovery grant programs include:

  • Emergency Rental Assistance Program – $572,500 from CDBG-CV. The program will offer up to $1,500 maximum assistance to low-income renter residents of Glendale who have been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. There will be two rounds of funding that will support in total 380 households.
  • Low-Income Small Business Grant Program – $572,500 from CDBG-CV. The program will offer small non-essential businesses and restaurants affected by COVID-19 a $5,000 grant to assist with business expenses. The program will support up to 114 Glendale businesses affected by COVID-19 who employ low-income individuals and have no more than 25 employees (self-employed can count as one employee) working at their establishment. Businesses must be in operation for a minimum of one year as of July 1, 2020, and have a commercial location in Glendale.
  • Small Business Recovery Grant – $1,600,000 from City of Glendale Measure S. The program will assist 320 businesses who have 500 or fewer employees with a $5,000 grant. Businesses must be in operation for a minimum of 6 months as of July 1, 2020, and have a commercial location in Glendale. All business types are eligible to apply, excluding loan packagers and businesses affiliated with gambling, among other narrowly defined prohibited businesses. Non-profit organizations are eligible (excluding houses of worship).

P-EBT Program

Get Help Buying Food While Schools are Closed

The Pandemic EBT program was created to help families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals buy food when schools are closed due to COVID-19. Families will get up to $365 per eligible child on their P-EBT card to use on food and groceries.

Please note, families with children who are eligible for free or reduced-price meals and who do not get their P-EBT card in the mail by about May 22, 2020 must apply online by July 15, 2020. The online application is available here.

 GUSD's Return to School Task Force Presentation

On June 19, 2020, Glendale Unified School District Return to School Task Force leaders shared possible options for re-opening campuses in August based on recommendations from the California and Los Angeles County Departments of Education. The Glendale Unified Return to School Task Force is made up of teachers, school and district staff and administrators, parents, students and community members.

Share Your Feedback for Reopening Glendale Unified Schools 

Stakeholder feedback is vital as Glendale Unified School District determines next steps for reopening campuses this August. Over the coming weeks, the district is providing multiple opportunities for stakeholders to connect with them. The Board of Education invites students, families, employees and community members to attend one of two virtual community town hall events on Wednesday, July 8, to share your thoughts about Glendale Unified School District’s August 2020 Return to School Plan. Attendees will have an opportunity to speak, each speaker will be given two minutes. Additionally, stakeholders can find more information and provide feedback in the following ways:
