Create a bookmark for the annual Summer Reading Program theme, Read for the Win! Entries have a chance to be used as official Library bookmarks. All submissions must be completed in the Library. For ages 1 – 18.

Kickoff Events

Create bookmarks using the Library's materials. Light refreshments.

It’s time for the Library, Arts & Culture Annual Bookmark Contest! Amateur artists 18 years old and younger are invited to design an original bookmark illustrating their interpretation of this year’s theme, Read for the Win! Stop by any Library, Arts & Culture location, between Saturday, January 23 – Sunday, February 7 during open hours to create and submit your own special design for our 39th annual Bookmark Contest. This is the perfect opportunity for you to showcase your artistic abilities. Your bookmark entry may become an official Library, Arts & Culture bookmark for 2016 which may be reproduced and distributed throughout the Glendale library system and beyond! Winners will be selected in five categories:

  • PreK-Kindergarten
  • 1st-3rd grade
  • 4th-6th grade
  • 7th-8th grade
  • 9th-12th grade

...and each winner will receive 50 copies of their bookmark. Complete information and materials are available at all Library, Arts & Culture locations. For more information, please call 818-548-2035.

Parenting Workshops

Free parenting workshops will continue through the school year covering topics such as cyberbullying, depression and positive parenting. Join Dr. Ilin Magran, Glendale Unified School District Student Support Services, for these informative workshops at the Library Connection @ Adams Square. 1000 Books Before Kindergarten

A new program just for preschool children, ages 0-6, and their families to encourage daily reading time in the home. This program will be ongoing. Read more>
