On view: November 21, 2015 - February 5, 2016
Opening Reception: Saturday, December 12, 6:30 - 9:00 p.m.
Yarn Bombing Los Angeles (YBLA) is a group of guerrilla knitters who have been collaborating on public art installations and performances projects since 2010. This exhibition showcases and brings together 5 years’ worth of projects from across the Los Angeles area.
YBLA's work blends and reinterprets different artistic genres of street art, public art, fiber art, social practice, craft, and high art. YBLA's mission is to create a form of community-generated, site-specific public art that is tactile and accessible, while at the same time initiating dialogue about cross-generation connections and craft history.
YBLA Core Members: Julie Kornblum, Arzu Arda Kosar, David Orozco, Judy Richards, Darlyn Susan Yee, Carol Zou

Talk: Not Your Mother’s Knitting! with award winning textile artist Julie Kornblum
Coreember Julie Kornblum will present a talk about the yarn bombing phenomenon and will showcase some of Yarn Bombing Los Angeles' projects. Kornblum is a Core Member of YBLA, a collective of fiber artists who work with museums, city governments and alternative art spaces to create thought provoking public art installations using fabric and textiles. Each Yarn Bombing Los Angeles site specific project is a tactile and accessible experience that blends and bends notions about public art, street art, fiber art, social practice, craft and high art. The projects are also as political as they are whimsical and are definitely Not Your Mother’s Knitting!
Saturday, January 30, 2016, 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
