222 EAST - Central Library Plaza Series
Saturdays, 2:00 – 4:00 p.m.
Downtown Central Library Outdoor Plaza
222 East Harvard Street
Things are about to get loud at Downtown Central Library this summer with pop-up style performances at the outdoor plaza in front of Central Library on Harvard Street every Saturday afternoon, supported by the City of Glendale and the Glendale Arts & Culture Commission, with funding from the Urban Art Program.
Joellen & The Urban Gypsies -- Joellen and the Urban Gypsies bring together Traditional Americana, contemporary Folk, a little bit of jazz and World Music through a multicolored urban lens. We bring the whimsical and imaginative mountain dulcimer player/builder/songwriter Joellen Lapidus together with the musical talents of violinist Yvette Devereaux and bass player Oliver Steinberg. We want people to sing along and participate in the style of the living rooms, back porches, villages and town squares of folk music throughout the world. We are equally comfortable playing square dance tunes from Appalachia, Indian Ragas, pop tunes, Klezmer and jazz standards from the 40s.
