The Oversight Board was formed pursuant to California Assembly Bill x1 26, the "Dissolution Act", which dissolved all redevelopment agencies in the State of California, effective February 1, 2012.
The Oversight Board has fiduciary responsibility to the holders of enforceable obligations and the taxing entities that benefit from the distributions of property taxes. The Oversight Board will oversee the winding down process of the former Glendale Redevelopment Agency.
- Seven members
- No terms
- Oversight Boards shall be in place until July 1, 2018, at which time, it is anticipated that only one Oversight Board will serve each County.
- No compensation
The Dissolution Act calls for the creation of an Oversight Board for each successor agency, comprised of seven members:
- 2 appointed by the Mayor; 1 must represent the recognized employee organization representing the largest number of former agency employees;
- 3 appointed by the County Board of Supervisors (2 at large and 1 appointed by the largest special taxing district in the former agency);
- 1 appointed by the County School Superintendent; and
- 1 appointed by the Community College Chancellor.
Elected officials may not serve on the board. Active board members are not allowed to serve on more than one board/commission/committee (as defined in Title 2 of the Glendale Municipal Code) at the same time.
The Community Development Department provides administrative support for the Oversight Board; Cassandra Pruett, (818) 548-2005, can provide further information concerning the Board.
For additional information, please see The Dissolution Act.
